Hey Dude, could you do me a favor and verify 870 also changed formats, please? The web site for 870, http://www.thebig870.net/, is still playing oldies. I tried to listen over the air, but the signal was poor here in Centennial. Thanks!

104.5 goes with 870 AM. Infact they mention that in their jingle and at the top of the hr. So yes 870 AM is with 104.5 oldies is gone, so if you want oldies, go to 93.5 Pirate Radio here in fort collins.

KJMP's owners had filed an STA last year to operate at reduced power due to fire damage at the transmitter site. I don't know if this is related to the current outage, but KJMP was having difficulty finding replacement parts for the transmitter because the manufacturer no longer makes them.

The transmitter is east of Ault? There was a fire there once? He minus as well just file to keep 870 off the air anyways? It is clear, that they only want to use 96.9 and 104.5.. The question to me is? who listens to AM for music anyways? 104.5 comes in really clear up here. That is why the built the transmitter for the FM's anyways?

Well, I am certainly no expert on this topic but will explain what I believe to be accurate. (Someone please correct me, if needed.)
The rules for 104.5 and 96.9 differ because 104.5 (K283CN) is a translator linked to AM 870 whereas 96.9 (KYAP) is a standalone station. If 870 KJMP were to go silent then 104.5 would have to find another primary station to be a translator for or go silent itself. KYAP can broadcast independently.
I don't live near enough to test this but I suspect 104.5 is rebroadcasting some other station, if not 870. Maybe they're rebroadcasting some station's HD2 channel??
You can find more than you probably ever wanted to know at https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/fm-t...s-and-boosters.
