    From the Gazette:

Paul Richards, a KRDO NewsRadio announcer whose broadcasting career at local stations spanned more than 30 years, was found dead Sunday in his home in the Skyway neighborhood in southwest Colorado Springs, the station announced on its 5 p.m. newscast. He was 55.

Police were called to the home in the 3000 block of Electra Drive around noon. No announcement was made, though Gazette news partner KKTV reported Sunday afternoon that police said the death was not being investigated as suspicious or the result of foul play.

KRDO said the cause of death is unknown.

"All of us here at KRDO are saddened by Paul's passing," KRDO General Manager Tim Larson said in a statement to The Gazette, adding that Richards was an "integral part" of the station's Morning News team. "He was always upbeat and a true professional. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children. He will be greatly missed."

According to his biography on the KRDO website, Richards - whose real name is Paul Mundt - became a Colorado Springs radio fixture in the 1980s. He worked at KRDO for almost four years, including the past two years as co-anchor of the station's Morning News radio show. He also delivered television traffic reports.

Prior to working at KRDO, Richards was at music radio stations KSSS, KVUU, KKLI and KCSJ.

"He was a happy-go-lucky guy who always had a smile on his face," said Eric Singer, gazette.com's video anchor who worked at KRDO from 2006-14. "There will be a void in southern Colorado radio with his passing."

On Facebook, dozens of listeners expressed shock and sadness about Richards' sudden death while sharing their admiration for his work.

Christy Graham said the radio personality "went with me to work every morning." Nancy Bierley said "his program was so informative. He could speak with anyone and about any subject." And Cheryle Martinez said she "will miss hearing his voice on the radio most mornings."

According to the KRDO website, Richards was active in the community, working with the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado and the Salvation Army of El Paso County. He is survived by his wife, Julie Halling, and their five children ranging in age from 6 to 17.
