From The Denver Post:
With the entry of KDVR-Channel 31 into the 11 a.m. local news contest, the competition for tenths of a rating point is heating up.
In its first week, marked by big weather news during a spring storm, the Fox31 midday newscast narrowly beat KCNC-Channel 4, KMGH-Channel 7 and KTVD-Channel 20 in the key news demographics. (KUSA-Channel 9 carries the NBC “Today” telecast at 11 a.m., switching to a local newscast at noon.)
Among viewers age 25-54, the standard news demo, 11-11:30 a.m., KDVR scored a 0.7 rating; KMGH and KCNC scored a 0.6 rating; KTVD (9News at 11 a.m.) drew a 0.1 rating. At noon, KUSA scored a 1.1 rating.
On April 18 the new KDVR midday show was actually No. 1 in adults 25-54.
KDVR News Director Holly Gauntt said the 11 a.m. show following “Everyday” is intentionally personality driven and somewhat lighter than the harder news approach of KMGH.
