That is a heck of a move, to move a small weak translator! Well good luck to them on the already saturated market of sports radio!

The FCC is currently letting stations/translator owners move the translators up to 250 miles away if they do not cause interference and are locked to an AM station. It is called the AM revitalization order. So look for a lot of moves in the next few months of translators out in the middle of nowhere being moved to more populated areas.

Well that is wonderful, now Look out mountain is going to be really covered with translators! The dial is going to be so crowded now with all the AM stations wanting to be on FM, oh man.
I thought Denver's airwaves was closed to any new Fm signals? Since it is already crowded on the FM dial?
So far no one has chosen Northern Colorado, just Denver? It would be nice if Entercom could bring 1430 AM to the FM world?

I'm not sure where you heard the Denver airwaves were closed to new FM signals, but that has never been the case.

KEZW 1430 is on FM on KQKS 107.5 FM HD-2. Maybe they will get an FM translator for it.

Long time ago, I emailed the FCC, and asked if there was any more room for a full power FM station in Denver, and they told me that the market is closed on any new Full time FM stations in Denver.
Now granted that doesn't include HD radio(which is dying very slowly) or weak LP stations. For any Full power FM stations.. There is no room for them in Denver or the surroundings area of Denver.

(If you don't believe me feel free to ask them yourself)?

The FCC has a nifty little utility you can use to see if "will it fit?" when looking to place a transmitter with respect to adjacent stations and power.

some other people have taken the same database and exported it to google earth, etc.

After bouncing around from 1510/93.7 to 1550/94.1 to 1340 over the past few years, Brokered Sports “Mile High Sports” KDCO Denver has once again paired itself with an FM translator.

Mountain Community Translators has used the 250 mile AM translator waiver to bring 107.1 K296GQ Kimball CO into Denver as 104.7 K284CI. Operating with 140w/231m, the new signal brings 1340 KDCO to FM on the western side of the market.

Mile High Sports Radio (KDCO AM 1340) announced Thursday that it is now simulcasting on 104.7 FM in the Denver-area suburbs.

The move makes Mile High Sports Radio the only all-sports format in Denver broadcasting on both AM and FM. (Other AM stations are available only on HD2 signals.)

“We are very excited to again offer our fans multiple over-the-air broadcast options to listen to Denver’s largest sports talk lineup thanks to the addition of FM 104.7,” said general manager Casey Light. “Between AM 1340, FM 104.7, our live stream and iPhone and Android apps, there is now a full handful of ways our audience can hear unbiased, independent sports talk about their favorite Denver teams.”

Mile High Sports AM 1340 and FM 104.7 remains Denver’s only independently owned and operated local sports station. More than 25 locally based hosts comprise a lineup that airs more than 80 hours of live local programming each week. More than half the lineup are Denver or Colorado natives.

Mile High Sports Radio, which began broadcasting in 2007, will enter its 10th year on air in July, coinciding with the start of Denver Broncos training camp. The launch of the new FM signal coincides with the first day of the 2016 NFL Draft.

MILE HIGH SPORTS RADIO, heard on Sports KDCO-A/DENVER, has added a simulcast on K284CI/DENVER.
