NBC banks on "The Wiz Live!"
From The Denver Post:
NBC is banking on a live retelling of the Wizard of Oz story in musical form to break through the broadcast/streaming/DVR clutter. On Dec. 3, "The Wiz Live!" -- exclamation point emphasizing the non-taped element -- will have an early curtain in the Mountain time zone, 6-9 p.m. Thursday on KUSA-Channel 9.

When NBC says it's live? It really isn't, since at the beginning of the show it tells everyone, "Recorded earlier". So this Wiz Live, was not live it was pre-recorded! If they really wanted to do it right
and be live, than they should have informed every single NBC station in this country that at 7pm in every time zone, that it would start to air it. Instead, like all their live shows, it was pre-recorded!
Talk about lying to the whole nation!

I think the Recorded earlier was for viewers on the west coast because if NBC or any network does a live show like The Wiz it's usually tape delayed for people watching from the west coast.

Well it certainly wasn't live for us in the Rockies at all! Kinda disappointed really. Like I said before chance if they really wanted to do it live, than the moment the camera runs is when all NBC stations should receive it, no
matter what time it is in that state.
If the show started at 7pm, than in all the other states, it would be live in that state, no recording delays or anything. Live means live.

Really, this is nothing new. American Idol is produced live in California for the Eastern/Central feed. California and the rest of the Pacific time zone sees it on tape delay in the Eastern time pattern three hours later. Here in the Mountain time zone, stations have to record the Eastern/Central feed and play it back one hour later to match the Central pattern, or at least they used to.
