David Letterman's signoff Wednesday reached a 10-year ratings high, 13.76 million viewers, beating all primetime programming on CBS nationally. In Denver, the "Late Show" finale on CBS4 delivered the highest rating of any program this week, reaching over 250,000 total viewers. Meanwhile, the May numbers are in and the local snapshot is continued dominance by KUSA-Channel 9, a bright spot in the morning for KCNC-Channel 4, steady growth at KDVR-Channel 31 and, over at KMGH-Channel 7, they'd rather look toward the fall.

While things are bleak at 7News, they’re doing the happy dance at KCNC-Channel 4: for the May sweeps, CBS4 finished No. 2 to KUSA-Channel 9 for the 5-7 a.m. block with a 9 share to 9News’ 14 share. Mornings, where money is made and growth happens these days, is a battle to the thousandth of a point.

KDVR is showing fresh signs of life, particularly by beating KMGH-Channel 7’s 10 p.m. ratings. Among younger viewers (18-49), KDVR is No. 2 at 6 a.m., 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

A few particulars: in the 5-7 a.m. weekday block, among adults 25-54 (the standard news audience demo):

    KUSA 1.337 rating, 14 share
    CBS4 0.778 rating, 9 share
    KMGH 0.658 rating, 7 share
    KDVR 0.476 rating, 5 share
    KWGN 0.377 rating, 4 share

The 10 p.m. race, Monday through Sunday, adults 25-54, looks like this:

    KUSA 3.895 rating, 12 share
    CBS4 1.801 rating, 5 share
    KMGH 1.042 rating, 3 share
    KDVR 0.884 rating, 3 share

At 5 p.m. it’s a tight race for No. 2, with KUSA out front and KMGH-Channel 7 in a world of hurt.

    KUSA 2.520 rating, 13 share
    CBS4 0.960 rating, 5 share
    KDVR 0.869 rating, 5 share
    KMGH 0.678 rating, 4 share

And a closer look at the morning’s 6-7 a.m. weekday battle, viewers age 25-54, reveals a tight pack:

    KUSA 1.798 rating, 17 share
    CBS4 0.921 rating, 9 share
    KMGH 0.908 rating, 8 share
    KDVR 0.842 rating, 8 share
    KWGN 0.559 rating, 5 share
