    Default KDVR-KWGN mornings on the move

    From The Denver Post:

    Holly Gauntt, news director for both KDVR-Channel 31 and KWGN-Channel 2, hasn’t wasted time shaking things up, particularly in the morning, which, she says, is her top priority.

    Overall, her goal is to make “Good Day Colorado” and “Daybreak” more distinct, with “Good Day” on Fox31 being more traditional, and “Daybreak” being more loose and laid-back, Colorado-style. Negotiations with star personality Tom Green to extend his contract continue; Gauntt said she is “very hopeful.”

    She aims to feature more “veterans with experience” on the morning show.

    Among the details: Greg Nieto, with KWGN since 2000, moves to the KDVR side;
    Jennifer Broome moves to the KWGN side and will continue her “Explore Colorado” feature. She also serves as Dave Frasier’s fill-in. Shaul Turner will stick on the KDVR side; Heather Mills to the KWGN morning show.

    Gauntt hired veteran reporter Jim Hooley, formerly at KMGH. Both Nieto and Hooley will turn up on both shows, both stations.

    She hired executive producer Andre Brooks at KDVR, previously at stations in Dayton and Washington, D.C. And meterologist Chris Kilmer re-upped for both KDVR and KWGN.

    Gauntt sees “growth across all newscasts now, the newsroom is in a good place” in terms of positive energy.
