    Default Colorado Public Radio adds four to news staff

    From The Denver Post:

    Colorado Public Radio is beefing up its news staff, adding a general assignment reporter, an afternoon news host, a “Colorado Matters” producer and an energy and environment reporter. All hail from within the world of public radio nationally.

    The hires announced today by Kelley Griffin, CPR’s vice president of news:

    Jo Ann Allen, formerly host of “Morning Edition” at WHYY in Philadelphia and host at WNYC for 18 years, joins CPR as an afternoon host providing hourly news updates.

    Nathan Heffel, a reporter/host at KUNCand former producer and host of “The Takeaway” at KUVO, joins CPR as a general assignment reporter and backup host.

    Grace Hood, most recently at KUNC, will launch CPR’s new energy and environment beat. She won the Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize in 2012, has three national Edward R. Murrow awards and was named best radio reporter in Colorado in 2013 by the Associated Press.

    Kareem Maddox, formerly an assistant producer at KCRW in Los Angeles where he produced segments for the nationally syndicated show “To The Point,” will be a producer for “Colorado Matters,” responsible for researching, writing and booking guests for CPR’s daily interview program.
