Denver’s qualifying round of “American Ninja Warrior” airs Monday

The Denver qualifying round of “American Ninja Warrior” airs Monday, June 23 (8-10 p.m. on Channel 9). The contenders endured tough, cold weather during the local round in May. The would-be ninjas in Los Angeles, Dallas, St. Louis and Miami didn’t have to worry about the challenges of Rocky Mountain spring.

Jon Stewart (no relation), a Utah dad and one of the oldest competitors, is seen in this clip provided by NBC. He almost makes it look easy.

Denver was one of five cities that held rounds for the NBC obstacle competition reality show, leading to the Las Vegas finals. The is the sixth season for the summer series based on a Japanese hit. The “American Ninja Warrior” finale airs Sept. 15.
