Default KKTV is getting a new home

    http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/6...tting-new-home

Gray Television’s CBS affiliate KKTV Colorado Springs (DMA 90), will move from its current location to a state-of-the-art, downtown Colorado Springs facility early next year. The station has purchased a building on East Colorado, and planning is underway for the transition.

“We are incredibly excited about the move,” said Nick Matesi, VP-GM of KKTV. “The building we selected is completely aligned with our goal of creating a next-generation media facility. As we evolve to more of a multiplatform content and advertising provider, the open spaces and open floor plan will provide us with a much more collaborative environment.”

KKTV says the facility will include “cutting-edge technology and a state-of-the-art studio configuration. In addition, the building will be designed to accommodate new workflows to insure timely and seamless content distribution on the Web, mobile, social media and other digital platforms.”

“The Waldo Canyon fire was a teachable moment, because KKTV marshaled the resources to broadcast uninterrupted coverage of the emergency for 131 hours, ” said Jim Ocon, VP of technology for Gray Television. “We learned from those experiences that we need to create a working environment whereby information can flow easily both internally and externally. KKTV will create a mobile newsroom philosophy, and the building we selected is a perfect set-up for that to happen.”

KKTV purchased the building from local architect James Nakai, and the company has enlisted Nakai to assist in the redesign.

KKTV plans to move to the new facility in early 2013.

Good for them! For as long as I can remember (at least 30+ years that I know of, probably way more), they have been in that old warehouse style building next to the Kmart on North Nevada.

I got to visit their studios a few times in the good old days when Hal Kennedy was their main anchor.

I've been to their location a few times, mainly when applying for work. The building was originally soundstages in the 1940s for the Alexander Film Co., which produced advertising shorts to precede movies at theaters.
