ALL ACCESS has confirmed what RANDI RHODES has been hinting at on the air in recent weeks: the syndicated talker will no longer be produced and distributed by PREMIERE NETWORKS as of DECEMBER 31st. A formal announcement from the syndicator may come as soon as TODAY (11/13).
RHODES, who entered syndication in 2003 after stints at WIOD-A/MIAMI and WJNO-A/WEST PALM BEACH, became distributed by PREMIERE in 2009 after the demise of AIR AMERICA RADIO and a brief run at NOVA M RADIO. She has told listeners that she expects her last live show to air DECEMBER 13th.

Liberal radio host Randi Rhodes will be on the air in 2014, after all. Although Premiere Networks announced earlier this week it would be dropping Rhodes’ radio show by the end of the year, the syndicator has switched gears signing Rhodes for one-year through December 2014, with the potential for an extension.

Peter Tripi, Premiere's SVP of affiliate relations wrote in an email to radio affiliates:

“In a happy turn of events, we are pleased to announce that Premiere Networks will continue to produce and distribute The Randi Rhodes Show. In an industry of constant change, it’s a pleasure to provide good news about a talk talent we think so highly of. We apologize for any inconvenience the previous announcement caused, but look forward to a very successful 2014 with The Randi Rhodes Show.”

After confirming her pending exit, Premiere Networks has reversed itself and re-signed syndicated progressive talk host Randi Rhodes. The network sent e-mails to affiliates today saying it will continue its production and distribution of the program. Rhodes had hinted at her departure recently and expected her last show to air December 13. She joined Premiere to host "The Randi Rhodes Show" in May, 2009, airing from 3-6pm ET. Before that, Rhodes was heard on the Nova M Radio Network until February, 2009. Previously, she spent four years with the now defunct Liberal Talk radio network Air America in afternoons.

Default Premiere Cancels & Uncancels Randi Rhodes

    From Radio Insight:

After canceling syndicated Liberal Talk host Randi Rhodes earlier this week, Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks has reversed course and signed her to a new contract.

On Wednesday, Premiere announced that they would cease distribution of Rhodes’ program at the expiration of her contract at the end of the year. Just two days later Premiere has stated they have signed her to a one year contract extension through the end of 2014.

In a memo to affiliates, Peter Tripi SVP/Affiliate Relations for Premiere wrote:

In a happy turn of events, we are pleased to announce that Premiere Networks will continue to produce and distribute The Randi Rhodes Show. In an industry of constant change, it’s a pleasure to provide good news about a talk talent we think so highly of. We apologize for any inconvenience the previous announcement caused, but look forward to a very successful 2014 with The Randi Rhodes Show

BradBlog.com reports that on her show today, Rhodes hinted that the change may have come about from the company not “wanting to lose her perspective”. That insinuates that the move was politically mindful in that Rhodes is the only Liberal voice syndicated by Premiere.
