Default Broncos telecast fumbled by Comcast

    From The Denver Post:

Comcast’s fumble meant frustration for some 150,000 Broncos fans in Colorado Sunday.
Maybe if it hadn’t been during a nail-biter of a game. Maybe if it had been only for a second* But Comcast’s bad signal during the Oct. 6 telecast of the Denver Broncos v. Dallas Cowboys game resulted in a scrambled, digitally distorted mess of colors on the screen. The official explanation, according to Comcast: “It was a hardware failure with the router control card.”
Some 150,000 football viewers were denied the pleasure of watching a close game near the end of the second half. A Comcast spokesperson said Monday, “Unfortunately, we had an equipment failure that impacted approximately 120k customers in parts of the north metro Denver area (Boulder, Thornton, Arvada, Commerce City) for about an hour during the game. Fortunately, the services were restored for the last few minutes of the game.”
Outrage erupted on social media, with anger directed toward the cable company. Perhaps the best Twitter commentary came from KUSA’s Kyle Clark. “Worst jobs today: 1) Cowboys Defensive Coordinator 2) Comcast phone support operator #BroncosChat.” And, perhaps surprisingly considering the local competition: “Please don’t call & yell at the fine folks at @CBSDenver. The #Comcast issue isn’t their fault. #BroncosChat”
Meanwhile fans alternately searched for vintage transistor radios, scoured their neighborhoods for anyone with DISH and dialed Comcast, only to hear “due to a high volume of calls*”
