Civic Media Buys Two More; Launches Pair Of Liberal Talkers In Northern Wisconsin

Sage Weil and Mike Crute’s Civic Media continue their quick growth across Wisconsin as the company purchases Heart of Wisconsin Media’s Oldies 1320 WFHR/97.5 W247DE Wisconsin Rapids and Classic Country 105.5 WIRI Nekoosa WI for $886,000.
While retaining its “Locally Grown Radio” moniker WFHR has immediately flipped to Liberal Talk as has another of Civic Media’s pending acquisitions. Sunrise Broadcasting’s “Sports Fan 98.9” 1230 WXCO/98.9 W255DN Wausau is now “Bull Falls Radio“. Both stations are running a mix of programming from Crute’s Madison and Milwaukee stations, syndications, as well as a locally focused morning show “Up North News” hosted by former state senator Pat Kreitlow as an extension of his website.
Following the sale of WFHR and WIRI, Heart of Wisconsin Media retains Classic Hits “Wisconsin 106” WCWI Adams.
Civic Media is in the process of purchasing Hometown Broadcasting’s 1100 WISS Berlin/98.3 W252DR Oshkosh and Fruit Broadcasting’s Standards 1450 WRCO/107.7 W299CD and Country 100.9 WRCO-FM Richland Center WI in addition to WFHR, WIRI and WXCO.
