STEVE COOPER, most recently mornings on Classic Hits KRRR/CHEYENNE, WY passed away suddenly over the weekend from an apparent blood clot. COOPER worked evenings for KAZY/DENVER as well as a stint at KBPI/DENVER and he was remembered on FACEBOOK from CHUCK LONTINE, a friend and former colleague at KAZY with this nice tribute:
"When I learn of passages it really effects the deeper parts of me. At the not even ripe age of 19, I started working at KLZ/KAZY here in DENVER. First as a reporter at large and then as a floating news anchor. One of the most friendly people I met during this time was STEVE COOPER. STEVE worked evenings on KAZY and from time to time, I got to be on the air during his show. At it's peak, we were DENVER's Album Rock. STEVE had that voice. He added though, his natural warmth, wit and intelligence. All of which he created into a radio brand. Off the air, he married and raised a lovely family and remained on the air up to his passing. I will never forget returning to DENVER to visit my parents at some point in the 80's to be welcomed on to a big bright billboard with his wonderful smile for KBPI. My heart burst with pride for his success. And, up until just a few weeks ago, he would IM me with suggestions about my radio stations and seeking advice about some projects he was working on. STEVE WARREN COOPER was a very good man, and made me a better broadcaster and the world a better place. Rest in peace my friend. Rest, in peace. You made a difference in the lives of many."
