Default KCMJ 93.9 CO Springs ...MIA

The last few days I've tuned into 93.9, it sounds like an silent carrier that trips the stereo pilot indicator on the car radio. Turning up the volume to the limit there is an intelligible signal from one of the stations that runs The Radio Shopping Show here in town.

The 93.9 signal is from Buzz Corona's (i.e., Mike Knar's) translator in Pueblo. They transmit from the old 106.9 tower along Doyle Road to the Southeast of Pueblo. Since their 60-dBu barely makes it up to Pueblo, I'd be surprised that you are able to hear it in the Springs. But some of these translators are known to operate at higher-than-authorized power levels. If KCMJ is off the air, hopefully it's just temporary, as it would be sad to lose another locally-operated LPFM.

KCMJ's website announced the station was briefly taken offline to install new cables and redesign the computer system: https://kcmj.org/past-events/back-on-fm/

I don't believe it's back up yet since my car radio couldn't pick it up, even when driving by the transmitter atop Stargazers Theater. The web stream is still going, though.

One interesting tidbit I found on KCMJ from the CS Indy: the FM station is occasionally turned off during events at Stargazers because the FM signal sometimes bleeds into the theater's PA system.
