Cancer Claims David Bowie At 69

Days after releasing a critically acclaimed album on his 69th birthday, innovative rock legend DAVID BOWIE has died from cancer, his manager confirmed to the L.A. TIMES.
A statement posted on his FACEBOOK page said, "DAVID BOWIE died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief." The same message was posted via TWITTER.
BOWIE was born DAVID JONES in JANUARY 1947 but rebooted himself as DAVID BOWIE in 1966, in order to avoid confusion with the MONKEES' DAVY JONES. He is survived by his son DUNCAN, wife of 24 years IMAN, and their daughter ALEXANDRIA.
