    A car crashed into the building housing BROADCAST MEDIA News-Talk KFKA-A/GREELEY, CO SUNDAY night (7/26), reports the GREELEY TRIBUNE.

    The CHEVROLET Impala was speeding when it crashed into the building and caught fire, according to the GREELEY Fire Department; the driver was pulled by witnesses from the wreck with life-threatening injuries; as of early MONDAY, the driver is in critical condituon. The building, which was unoccupied at the time of the crash, sustained severe damage to a corner office, but the fire was contained to the car.

    A person is in critical condition today following a crash into a downtown building late Sunday night.

    According to a news release from Greeley Fire Department, the vehicle was traveling north on 11th Avenue when the driver lost control and crashed into the KFKA building at the corner of 9th Street. The release stated the vehicle caught fire following the collision. Residents who witnessed the crash pulled the driver to a safe location until emergency services personnel arrived, the release stated. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    Two engines, two trucks, and a command unit from the Greeley Fire Department responded to the accident and subsequent vehicle fire along with a Banner Ambulance and Greeley Police units. Greeley fire had a total of 14 firefighters working to contain the fire, treat the injured driver, and stabilize the building, the release stated. The fire was contained to the vehicle and did not extend into the building. Fire crews stabilized the heavily damaged brick building as search crews looked for additional victims inside. No one was inside the building office at the time of the accident.

    The vehicle was traveling at a high rate pf speed when it lost control crashed into the building. The building is part of the KFKA 1310 AM radio station and severely damaged the corner office. The corner of the building nearest to the intersection of 11th Avenue and 9th Street was removed from the impact of the vehicle. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
