Rush Limbaugh Threatens Suit Against Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
    From All Access:

    Attachment 583

RUSH LIMBAUGH is threatening to sue the DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE over use of his comments about rape, which he said were taken out of context, in a fundraising letter, reports the WASHINGTON POST.
In a letter to the committee, LIMBAUGH's attorney PATTY GLASER of GLASER WEIL alleged that the DCCC "has intentionally disseminated demonstrably false statements" about the PREMIERE NETWORKS host "in a concentrated effort to harm Mr. LIMBAUGH, and with reckless disregard for the resulting impact to small businesses across AMERICA that choose to advertise on his radio program." She called the "defamation" of LIMBAUGH "shocking and inexcusable; moreover, it is civilly actionable," and demanded a retraction and public apology.
On his SEPTEMBER 15th, 2014 show, LIMBAUGH, discussing CALIFORNIA's sexual consent law, said, "Consent must be freely given, can be withdrawn at any time, and the absence of 'no' does not mean 'yes.' How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that 'no' means 'yes' if you know how to spot it? Let me tell you something. In this modern world, that is simply not tolerated. People aren't even gonna try to understand that one. I mean, it used to be said it was a cliché. It used to be part of the advice young boys were given. See, that's what we gotta change. We have got to reprogram the way we raise men. Why do you think permission every step of the way, clearly spelling out 'why' ... are all of these not lawsuits just waiting to happen if even one of these steps is not taken?" But the DCCC's subsequent e-mail called the comments a "reprehensible rant excusing rape on college campuses," only quoting the phrase, "'no' means 'yes' if you know how to spot it" without the rest of the sentence. The e-mail also included a comment from SANDRA FLUKE saying, "As a previous target of LIMBAUGH’s sexist attacks, take it from me: We need to stand together and call RUSH out. The DCCC has a petition to tell advertisers to stop funding this repulsive commentary.”
GLASER's letter alleged that the DCCC "knowingly and intentionally mischaracterized" the host's comments, using the 10 words from a "24-word facetious question posed by Mr. LIMBAUGH" "in order to attribute a false meaning" to LIMBAUGH. She cited the DCCC's previous acknowledgement that it had made "unsubstantiated allegations" against SANDS/VENETIAN casino mogul and Republican Party donor SHELDON ADELSON in 2012 and retracted those comments and apologized. She added that LIMBAUGH "has authorized this firm to promptly commence litigation against the DCCC if it refuses to retract its defamatory statements."
