The Colorado Broadcasters Association handed out a multitude of honors on Saturday, notably to KUSA-Channel 9, including the station’s 17th consecutive metro market station of the year award. The station also captured the title for best regularly scheduled newscast (“9News at 5”), and best investigative reporting for the “Fueling the Fire” entry by Chris Vanderveen and Anna Hewson. KUSA’s Cheryl Preheim was named best anchor.

Throwback hip-hop and R&B formatted KFCO-FM in Denver (the Flo 107.1 FM) was named best metro market radio station of the year.

KDVR-Channel 31 won for best public affairs program (by Deborah Takahara and Sean Towle) and best documentary (by Sean Towle and Jeremy Hubbard).

KUNC-FM scored best feature for Jackie Fortier’s story on summer schools and best coverage of a single event (Stacy Nick’s story on the Botanic Gardens’ stinky flower).

KRMA (Rocky Mountain PBS) won best mini-documentary or series for “Arts District” and best news special for “Standing in the Gap.”

KCFR-FM won for best news feature, report or series for the investigation into the Army’s mistreatment of soldiers with mental health and brain injuries, by CPR’s Michael De Yoanna, and NPR’s Daniel Zwerdling.
