Wild Bill Cody was last on the air with 101 9 KING FM just this last September. *It saddened me deeply to get the news that a heart attack on Christmas day took our friend and co worker, one of our own. *Bill would push the boundaries anytime he could in the name of entertaining his audience, and would rather apologize after the fact than ask permission before hand. *Bill breathed, ate and lived for radio*it was his obsession. *Many times people would simply shake their heads and proclaim that “He’s CRAZY”! *Yup, that was our Bill! *A very creative man, behind a cartoonish voice*was the essence of what radio was and quite possibly still should be. *I know our world is missing a very caring, giving and talented man*gone to soon. *RIP..Wild Bill *I will miss you my friend!

Wild Bill Cody came to Reno from Denver to do mornings at KWNZ-FM in 1988, and stayed until 1994. He died of an apparent heart attack at his home Christmas Day after surviving another heart attack months earlier.

His radio career spanned at least 35 years. It includes Morning Radio Personality for KSXY-FM, KFRC-AM, KKFM-FM, WYGY-FM, WBBM-FM, KWNZ-FM, KRXY-FM.

To raise money for flood victims, he rode a riding lawn mower from Cincinnati to New Orleans, a journey spanning 11 days and more than 1,100 miles, his LinkedIn biography states.

From Chicago Media:

Former Chicago radio personality Wild Bill Cody passed away on Christmas Day in his home in Fort Collins, CO from an apparent heart attack -- his second heart attack this year. He was 62 years old. Chicago radio fans will remember him as being one half of the TJ & Wild Bill morning show duo that made up the "B96 Wakeup Call." These were the radio DJ team that was put together by Program Director Todd Cavanah to replace the then-fired Eddie and Jobo. TJ & Wild Bill were on WBBM-FM from September 1994 through July 1995. The duo were fired because their ratings were far below those of Eddie & Jobo's, as B96 fans wanted their Eddie & Jobo back and did not accept these "outsiders" taking over. TJ (Terry Jacobs, now going by Terry Coffey) and Wild Bill Cody then went their separate ways. Cody had been in radio for over 35 years in various markets nationwide, but spent his biggest years in Reno, NV and Denver, CO.
