A fixture of Denver’s morning TV landscape, Tom Green has been the bright light of “Daybreak” for years. With decades in the market (previously at KUSA and KMGH) and many Emmys along the way, he is a personable morning companion, a natural broadcaster. Such a reliable presence, you don’t imagine him doing anything else. It’s not clear daylight would actually break without him.

With his contract up at the end of May and an offer from KWGN on the table, Green isn’t sure he shouldn’t be thinking of something else. He was in sports for ages and still tweets about it regularly. Is it mid-life crisis time?

“They’ve made it clear they’d like me to stay, they made a nice offer,” Green said. “It’s been a great ride, but you have to be completely invested. This should be simple, but for some reason it’s not right now.”

Personal and professional considerations are holding him up, apparently. Green says he won’t do anything half-heartedly, he wants to be all in. VP-News Director Holly Gauntt recently said she aims to make the Channel 2 and Channel 31 morning shows more distinct and expressed hope that Green will continue. A decision should be forthcoming*soon.
