The fate of Top 40 countdown legend CASEY KASEM took a strange twist TODAY when a judge ordered an investigation into KASEM's whereabouts after his wife's attorney said KASEM was out of the country -- and he didn't know exactly where KASEM was. ABC NEWS reports that L.A. SUPERIOR COURT Judge DANIEL S. MURPHY ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to find out where the iconic DJ is being treated.
KASEM, 82, suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease and can no longer speak; his care is under the supervision of his wife, JEAN KASEM. His children have complained that they have been unable to see their father in accordance with an agreement with their stepmother. Daughter KERRI KASEM's attorney, TROY MARTIN, said the family believes the entertainer has been taken to an Indian reservation in WASHINGTON state.

Judge Orders Investigation Into Casey Kasem's Location

431

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to determine Kasem's whereabouts.

A judge on Monday ordered an investigation into the whereabouts of Casey Kasem after an attorney for the ailing radio personality's wife said the former "Top 40" host had been removed from the country.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to find out where Kasem is being treated and report back to the court. Kasem, 82, suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease, can no longer speak and has been in various medical facilities chosen by his wife, Jean Kasem.

Casey Kasem's children have complained that they have been unable to see their father in accordance with an agreement with their stepmother. Daughter Kerri Kasem had sought a temporary conservatorship and was appointed her father's temporary caretaker on Monday. Her attorney, Troy Martin, said the family believes the entertainer has been taken to an Indian reservation in Washington state.
Murphy's order came after Craig Marcus, an attorney who appeared on Jean Kasem's behalf at Monday's hearing, said he did not know where the radio personality was but knew that he had been removed from the country.
"I have no idea where he is," Marcus said.
The revelation brought stunned protests from Murphy and two of Casey Kasem's daughters, two of the entertainer's three children from a previous marriage.
"Your statements concern me even more," the judge told Marcus, who declined to comment after the hearing.
Marcus said in court that Jean Kasem had every right to move her husband as she saw fit.
Murphy appointed a doctor to look into Casey Kasem's care and ordered a court-appointed attorney to find out his whereabouts as soon as possible.

STORY: The Sad, Strange Family Battle Over Radio Legend Casey Kasem (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/casey-kasem-sad-strange-family-678902)

Casey Kasem gained fame with his radio music countdown shows "American Top 40" and "Casey's Top 40," and was the voice of Shaggy in the cartoon Scooby Doo.
As temporary conservator, Kerri Kasem will have access to her father's medical records and other reports that have previously been sealed by court order.
Kerri Kasem's case is the second one opened by one of the former host's children to try to gain access to their father and have some say about his care. A previous case by daughter Julie Kasem was dismissed after she reached a settlement with her stepmother, but the daughter said Monday that agreement has been breached.
In a court filing last week, Kerri Kasem's attorneys wrote that the entertainer has been repeatedly moved without warning and his children have been unable to see him. The complaint accused Jean Kasem of elder abuse by isolating her husband from his family.
"We've been troubled for a long time," Kerri Kasem said after Monday's court hearing. She said Murphy's orders will ensure that the truth about her father's care comes out.
"Justice has been served today," she said.

CNN is reporting that legendary radio icon Casey Kasem was seen in Washington state -- days after he left a nursing home. Kasem's exact location remains unclear but Kitsap County sheriff's deputies performed a welfare check Tuesday at an address provided by California Adult Protective Services.

Authorities found Casey and his wife visiting others at a home and the couple told deputies they were on vacation. The deputies left after determining Kasem was not in distress and was receiving appropriate care.

"We are grateful to local authorities for finding my Dad. We are one step closer to bringing him home," said daughter Kerri Kasem said in a statement Wednesday night.

Last week, CASEY KASEM was located safe in WASHINGTON STATE, after his family filed a missing persons report for the legendary radio personality on WEDNESDAY (5/14). The KITSAP COUNTY Sheriff's Department said that KASEM was at an undisclosed address provided by CALIFORNIA Adult Protective Services with his wife JEAN and was aware of where he is.

Now, THE SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS reports, "a judge on TUESDAY expanded the powers of CASEY KASEM's daughter to determine whether her father is receiving adequate medical care amid his ongoing concerns about the health and welfare of the ailing radio personality. LOS ANGELES Superior Court Judge DANIEL S. MURPHY ordered KASEM's wife, JEAN, to comply with court orders allowing doctors to evaluate her husband, and also allow his daughter KERRI to see him. He also ordered JEAN KASEM to surrender her husband's passport and temporarily suspended her powers to determine her husband's medical care."

The judge expressed additional concerns about the lack of additional information and cooperation from JEAN KASEM, and has appointed an attorney and doctor to evaluate CASEY KASEM, however neither has been able to contact him or his wife.

During the court hearing YESTERDAY, MURPHY told attorneys representing JEAN KASEM that, "I'm not sure she's even complying with my order," and told KERRI KASEM she could hire an unarmed private investigator to help find her father if necessary.

CASEY KASEM'S WIFE SERVED WITH GUARDIANSHIP PAPERS

The wife of ailing radio personality Casey Kasem has been given a California court order that temporarily suspends her powers to determine her husband's medical care amid concerns about his health and welfare.

The order Kitsap County sheriff's deputies delivered Friday also expands daughter Kerri Kasem's authority to determine whether her father, who's now in Washington state, is receiving adequate medical care.

Wife Jean Kasem told KING-TV in an interview aired Friday evening that her husband is getting the best possible care and she is "not going to allow anybody to shred (her) family on unfounded facts and malicious accusations."

Following an order by KITSAP COUNTY Judge JENNIFER FORBES to allow radio icon CASEY KASEM's daughter KERRI to visit him for the first time since his wife JEAN moved him to WASHINGTON from a SANTA MONICA facility without notifying his family, the ailing CASEM was taken to a hospital on SUNDAY (6/1) amidst some high drama between JEAN and KERRI in which JEAN threw a pound of hamburger meat at KERRI.

KERRI had initiated the move to a hospital for her father, with FORBES' permission, when she testified that a physician hired by JEAN reported that "her 82-year-old father had developed infections in his lungs and bladder and has bed sores," according to NBC NEWS.

Paramedics were not allowed inside the SILVERDALE, WA residence where CASEY was living. 911 was called and a second ambulance and fire truck arrived. JEAN walked downstairs and threw a pound of raw hamburger meat at KERRI. The paramedics eventually got inside and picked up CASEY KASEM.

The NBC NEWS report continues, "KERRI was just very, very upset because her dad's health had declined so much since she and Julie saw him on May 6," her aunt MARY KASEM. He just went backwards. She was so heartbroken on FRIDAY that it broke my heart."
Another hearing about the health and welfare of CASEY KASEM is set for FRIDAY in front of Judge FORBES.

The media circus and Reality-TV-style drama that has become the Casey Kasem story seems terribly unfitting of the man behind the iconic voice that thrilled so many for so many years. One has to wonder if Kasem is even aware and what his take would be. Regardless, the saga continues and Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Forbes ruled that the ailing Kasem, 82, can return to his Seattle-area home where he's been staying with his wife, provided doctors approve.

The ruling comes the day after Kasem was taken by ambulance to a medical facility following an intense argument between his wife, Jean, and Kasem's daughter Kerri Kasem. It stipulates that there must be medical supervision and doctors have to clear him safe to travel.

This past Sunday, authorities responded to a 911 call at the house and found Jean and Kerri Kasem arguing. Danny Deraney, a spokesman for Kerri Kasem, later said Jean Kasem tossed a package of ground meat at her stepdaughter. Jean Kasem's response to reporters was, "If you need to know why I did it -- when a person is about to pass away, there are always rabid dogs."

Any further updates on Mr. KASEM's condition will be at the discretion and approval of his children."
DANNY DERANEY, speaking for KASEM's daughter KERRI KASEM, told CNN that members of the family, including CASEY KASEM's brother, were flying to WASHINGTON. When asked if they feared CASEY KASEM might die, DERANEY said it could be his last moments or he could get better. A court has once ahain stepped in to rule on the health of CASEY KASEM, ruling YESTERDAY (6/9) that KASEM should be fed, hydrated and medicated. A court-appointed attorney will evaluated the health of KASEM following moves made by CASEY's daughter, KERRY KASEM, to begin end of life measures.
CBS NEWS reports, "daughter KERRI KASEM, who has been placed in temporary control of his treatment, consulted with doctors and decided in recent days to stop giving her father food, water and medications, attorneys said in court. LOS ANGELES Superior Court Judge DANIEL S. MURPHY ruled that CASEY KASEM should receive the treatments while an attorney appointed by the judge meets with KASEM and his doctors in WASHINGTON state."
TROY MARTIN, an attorney for KERRI KASEM said, "the decision to begin end-of-life measures was made after doctors determined that feeding and hydrating the celebrity had become increasingly painful. MARTIN said the judge's ruling is likely to cause the former AMERICAN TOP 40 host more pain," adds CBS.
CASEY's wife JEAN told the court she supported the ruling, and will seek to be reinstated as her husband's caretaker. "Only God knows when to take someone," she said.
The judge has set a hearing for FRIDAY, JUNE 13th to receive an update about KASEM's health.
STEVE HANEY, an attorney for JEAN KASEM, said it was unclear how much longer KASEM had to live.

In a ruling TODAY (6/11), according to CNN.com, KERRI KASEM attorney TROY MARTIN has said that Superior Court Judge DANIEL MURPHY has reversed his decision from earlier this week (6/6) and has granted daughter KERRI the authority to withhold medication, food and fluids from her ailing father, the legendary CASEY KASEM.

In his ruling, MURPHY has determined that giving CASEY KASEM food and fluids would be harmful and cause more pain for the 82-year-old former radio personality.

KERRI KASEM said in a statement following the hearing: "The court’s decision today upheld our father’s explicit wishes as expressed by him in his health directive: If the extension of my life would result in a mere biological existence, devoid of cognitive function, with no reasonable hope for normal functioning, then I do not desire any form of life sustaining procedures, including nutrition and hydration....
Transitioning our father’s treatment to comfort-oriented care was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make. For the last 11 days, our father has been surrounded day and night by love and care by his daughters Kerri and Julie, his son Mike, his brother Mouner and sister-in-law Mary, and his dear friend Gonzalo Venecia. We continue to hope that Jean and Liberty will come join his family during this time."

She was referring to a directive her father signed in 2007, saying he would not want to be kept alive if it "would result in a mere biological existence, devoid of cognitive function, with no reasonable hope for normal functioning."

TMZ now reports that KASEM, with his daughters, son and brother by his side, is listening to old broadcasts of his iconic countdown show in a WASHINGTON hospice. The family believes the broadcasts will give him great enjoyment as he goes through the imminent transition

Following months of legal family wrangling over his care and access to seeing him, ALL ACCESS is deeply saddened to report that the legendary CASEY KASEM, who was literally the voice of a generation as host and co-creator of the AMERICAN TOP 40 syndicated radio show, has died on FATHER's DAY (6/15) at age 82 after complications from Lewy Body Dementia, a degenerative condition similar to Parkinson's Disease.
KERRI KASEM @KerriKasem Tweeted the sad news: "Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad. With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie."
KASEM, born APRIL 27th, 1932 in DETROIT, MI. to LEBANESE DRUZE parents, had a given first name of KEMAL. KASEM attended WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY in DETROIT.
Drafted into the US Army in 1952, KASEM was a DJ for the ARMED FORCES RADIO NETWORK while serving in KOREA. There were stops in CLEVELAND, BUFFALO and LOS ANGELES before his fame would grow exponentially. On JULY 4th, 1970, AMERICAN TOP 40 was born. KASEM would later say that first show took 18 hours to record and had only seven affiliates.
He hosted the weekly countdown until 1988, and again from 1998 to 2004, when RYAN SEACREST succeeded him.
On his last broadcast of AMERICAN TOP 20, one of two AC spinoffs he hosted until 2009, KASEM reflected on the beginnings of AT40, saying "DON [BUSTANY, longtime business partner] and I believed, and so did a growing number of listeners."
The countdown featured the popular segment "Long Distance Dedication." But KASEM said it wasn't part of the show until 1978 when a staffer found the letter in the mail. Over the years, more than 3,000 dedications were read on the show. At the height of his popularity -- the 1980s -- KASEM took a version of his syndicated radio countdown to TV. He used the burgeoning music video craze on AMERICA'S TOP 10.
His signature line was "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
KASEM's voice wasn't only familiar for spinning records. He was an accomplished voice-over artist. KASEM was heard on numerous commercials and on the NBC-TV promos in the 1980s. But he was predominantly known as the voice of SHAGGY on the SCOOBY-DOO cartoons, a role he maintained for 40 years.
In 1985, KASEM was inducted into the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME.
He is survived by a second wife, actress JEAN KASEM, a daughter, LIBERTY, and three children, MIKE, JULIE, and KERRI from his first marriage. KASEM's final months were marred by legal disputes between family members.
In his goodbye to radio fans in 2009, KASEM said, "Success doesn't happen in a vacuum. You're only as good as the people you work with and the people you work for. I've been lucky, I've worked for and with the very best."
ALL ACCESS Pres./Publisher JOEL DENVER noted, "CASEY's death marks the passing of one of the truly innovative radio personalities of our time. CASEY brought to life the magic of AMERICAN TOP 40 to millions for years, and with that show, he created an indelible and beautiful spotlight on the importance of music and radio for generations of listeners. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with CASEY when we both recorded our respective shows for WESTWOODONE, and he was always a gentleman, who had a big and caring heart. Rest in peace, CASEY."

Radio legend CASEY KASEM may have passed, but the surviving members of his family aren't about to mend fences any time soon. One exhibit in KERRI KASEM's MAY 7th probate petition is a MARCH 19th letter from KERRI KASEM’s lawyer, TROY MARTIN, to JEAN KASEM’s lawyers, alleging that she previously told her husband that their marriage was over, and that "Mr. KASEM told (one of his doctors) that he had been divorced from Mrs. KASEM for years ... Even more mystery and intrigued shrouds the location of the body of beloved radio icon CASEY KASEM, which ALL ACCESS first reported as missing on last FRIDAY.
According to a report in the OTTAWA CITIZEN, "COREY GAFFNEY, the president of GAFFNEY FUNERAL HOME of TACOMA, says he confirmed the remains arrived in MONTREAL and media reports suggesting they have disappeared are not true. A death certificate filed in a WASHINGTON STATE court JULY 15th listed MONTREAL funeral home URGEL BOURGIE as the place of disposition, and JULY 14th as the date of disposition."
However, according to that same report, "The MONTREAL funeral home told THE CANADIAN PRESS on SATURDAY it had no record of KASEM's remains as being at the facility or that they were supposed to arrive." A report on PEOPLE.COM also indicates that URGEL BOURGIE has no record of KASEM's body being in their possession.
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports that "KERRI asked for her temporary restraining order this (past) week because she now is seeking her own follow-up autopsy amid dueling accusations of elder abuse." That TRO was issued after (CASEY's wife) JEAN KASEM, reportedly sent CASEY's body to CANADA.
“KERRI KASEM has a well-grounded fear that her right to petition for authorization to conduct an autopsy on the remains of her father, CASEY KASEM, could be adversely affected if JEAN KASEM were to remove MR. KASEM's remains from WASHINGTON STATE, or if JEAN KASEM were to cremate Mr. KASEM's remains," according to the TRO signed by PIERCE COUNTY Superior Court Judge RONALD CULPEPPER.
The WASHINGTON judge overseeing KERRI's autopsy petition has set a hearing for JULY 25th.

According to new reports from CNN, Casey Kasem's body was flown from the Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, Washington, to Canada a month after he died. The move took place before Kasem's daughter, Kerri Kasem, could enforce a court order against it being removed. Kasem's wife, Jean Kasem, said she has been "blackmailed" by her husband's children for 35 years telling the news station, "This is a shakedown and I will not negotiate with terrorists. I will not give in to their blackmail and attacks."

Meanwhile, Kerri Kasem has accused her stepmother of abusing her elderly father and contributing to his death by taking him from a Santa Monica, California, care facility in May and relocating him to Washington. Santa Monica Police are continuing "an open and ongoing investigation" into the elder abuse allegation according to police Sgt. Rudy Camarena.

Corey Gaffney, of the Gaffney Funeral Home, said Kasem's body was kept in his funeral home until he was instructed by Jean Kasem to send it to Montreal last week. He added, "I took Casey to the airport myself, oversaw every detail myself from the moment we brought him into care."

Kerri Kasem has now become an advocate pushing for a new law in California to give adult children visitation rights with their aging or incapacitated parents. In a Facebook posting she said, "There are so many people dealing with the same situation my family is dealing with, and we are receiving so many letters and e-mails."

The macabre tale of CASEY KASEM's remains took an even more sordid twist today, as the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS quotes a private detective alleging that the reason JEAN KASEM flew the body to MONTREAL, listing the funeral home URGEL BOURGIE as the place of disposition -- even though the funeral home denies receiving the body -- is that MONTREAL is the home town of JOHN PAUL GRESSY, a Canadian businessman rumored to be romantically involved with the widow.
The private investigator, LOGAN CLARKE, asserts that GRESSY has been living in JEAN KASEM's MALIBU condo for months, and that “Neighbors have seen them holding hands and acting close,” CLARKE told the paper. “I welcome her to sue me if I'm wrong.”
Meanwhile, KERRI KASEM posted a message on TWITLONGER about the situation: "Let me clear a few things up," she wrote. "First of all, my Dad is not "missing," JEAN KASEM knows exactly where he is and she is HIDING him from his friends and family ... we will find out where my Dad is buried when the law that I am working on passes. There is a provision in the "Visitation Law" AB2034 that states the conservator/guardian must notify the immediate family when the ailing parent is in the hospital, upon death and where they are buried. JEAN KASEM will be court ordered to tell us where our Dad is.
"If my father is buried in MONTREAL, CANADA a place my Dad has NO connection to, it just further proves that even in death as in life, JEAN has tried to keep us away from our father. No matter what she does now * DAD IS ALWAYS WITH US."

In an ongoing sad story, CASEY KASEM -- who passed away on JUNE 15th -- has yet to be buried. Now a publicist for daughter KERRI KASEM says the family doesn't know where his body is.
CNN reports CASEY KASEM's body was flown to CANADA a month after he died. A funeral home director told CNN, "KASEM's corpse was taken from a WASHINGTON state funeral home last week before the radio icon's daughter could enforce a court order against it being removed."
Now, "a publicist for CASEY KASEM's daughter says the late radio personality's children are working with law enforcement following a report that KASEM's wife is making arrangements to have his body flown to EUROPE," reports CBS NEWS. DANNY DERANEY, the publicist for KERRI KASEM, told THE ASSOCIATED PRESS that KASEM's children are working with authorities on their next steps.
TMZ reports that JEAN KASEM is trying to have KASEM's body flown to EUROPE, perhaps OSLO, NORWAY, from CANADA. TERUYUKI OLSEN, a lawyer for JEAN KASEM, had no comment to TMZ.

It looks like the body of CASEY KASEM -- who died JUNE 15th in GIG HARBOR, WA -- will finally find a resting place. The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER and Norwegian newspaper VG report that his remains have been sent to OSLO, where he will either be buried in one of its 20 cemeteries for one crematorium.
Norwegian government official WENCHE MADSEN ERIKSSON told reporter MARCUS HUSBY, "It is arranged. He's going to OSLO," where it would cost $2,437 to bury KASEM. As to exactly where he will be buried ... "We don't know what [wife JEAN KASEM's] plans are," daughter KERRI KASEM spokesperson DANNY DERANEY said. "We just know that she wants to keep CASEY away from [his] family and friends and by the looks of it, hiding from law enforcement."
"There is no connection my dad has with NORWAY," KERRI KASEM's brother, MIKE KASEM said. "I don't know if JEAN has any ties to OSLO. She certainly has never mentioned it in the last 35 years. Check the exhumation laws there; sounds like a possibility that is the reason she will bury him there. My dad deserves to be buried where he specifically asked to be buried: FOREST LAWN. Everyone keeps asking for motives as to why JEAN acts how she acts. I don't have an answer."
KERRI KASEM-hired private investigator LOGAN CLARKE believes the move won't hinder the SANT MONICA POLICE's probe into allegations of abuse by JEAN KASEM. I don't think we need to exhume the body, we have so much evidence -- video, photos, witnesses -- and the police have collected so much evidence," CLARKE said. "If this is not elder abuse, there is no such thing. And if the police drop this case, I'll take it on the 6:00 news."

The daughter of the late CASEY KASEM, KERRI, is using the four-month anniversary of her father's passing to remind her followers that the radio icon has yet to be buried.

On both her TWITTER account and FACEBOOK page, she posted, "UPDATE: Our Dad is still not buried. And on another note ... people who criticize and blame others are usually the ones who are committing the crimes themselves. When we were fighting to see our Dad, JEAN KASEM accused us kids of going after the money, which we NEVER did. JEAN KASEM is NOW going after our family trust. If you think your irrevocable trusts you set up for your loved ones are safe with @MetLife ... think again!"

Last month, KERRI KASEM notified her TWITTER followers that a funeral home in NORWAY had refused to bury the remains of CASEY KASEM.

CASEY KASEM has yet to be laid to rest, and TMZ is reporting his "body is decomposing in a Scandinavian mortuary ... and his kids have gone to court before there's no body left to bury. KERRI KASEM filed legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- asking a judge to force JEAN KASEM to bring CASEY's remains back to the U.S. CASEY died in JUNE, and his body has been rotting away in NORWAY since AUGUST."
KERRI KASEM posted on her FACEBOOK page, "I am my father's daughter. He fought for what was right and just no matter what or who his adversary was. Now, it's my turn. Today, my family and I are asking a judge to allow us to bury our Dad at FOREST LAWN. SANTA MONICA Police Department had an Elder Abuse unit that worked diligently on our case. They asked for my father's body to be returned to LA for an autopsy. Unfortunately, the case was turned over to LAPD because of 'jurisdiction' issues and LAPD dropped the ball on bringing my Dad's body back to the states. They do not have an Elder Abuse department. (This does not mean they are dropping the case). My family and I need all the help we can get. PLEASE pray, send good thoughts and share this! THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE LOVE. I know how much my father meant to you. I will keep you updated."

Will the late CASEY KASEM finally be laid to rest? Possibly, reports NBC NEWS, which reports, "five months after radio legend CASEY KASEM died, a LOS ANGELES judge has denied a request from his oldest children that their father’s remains be returned from NORWAY so they can bury him in a HOLLYWOOD cemetery."
The judge ruled YESTERDAY (11/20), that KASEM’s widow, JEAN, has authority over the remains.
Earlier this month (NET NEWS 11/10), ALL ACCESS reported KERRI KASEM, the daughter of the late radio icon, had gone to court to try to bring her fathers remains home to the U.S. NBC notes, "The children have also requested that NORWAY deny JEAN’s request to bury the disc jockey’s body in OSLO. Government officials told NBC News that they have decided to defer the decision until the SANTA MONICA POLICE investigation of JEAN KASEM on elder abuse allegations is completed. Those allegations stem from JEAN KASEM’s removal of her husband from a healthcare facility in MAY."

CASEY KASEM may have died in JUNE 2014, but the legal battle involving his death certainly lives on.

CBS/LOS ANGELES reports, "CASEY KASEM’s oldest children have added his youngest child — their half-sister — to a wrongful death lawsuit they filed last year against his widow, JEAN (NET NEWS 11/30/15). LIBERTY KASEM, 25, is the only child born to CASEY and JEAN KASEM. JEAN was married to the longtime 'American Top 40' radio host and voice over artist from 1980 until his June 2014 death at age 82 from a form of dementia and a severe bedsore."

The lawsuit has been amended in LOS ANGELES Superior Court, alleging that, "JEAN and LIBERTY KASEM are liable for wrongful death, elder abuse and negligent infliction of emotional distress. CASEY’s brother, MOUNER, is also aligned with his brother’s oldest children in the suit."

CBS/LOS ANGELES also notes, "the complaint further alleges JEAN KASEM committed intentional infliction of emotional distress by isolating her husband’s older children from their father before his death and that she breached a settlement agreement she had with one of his other daughters, JULIE KASEM, by making it hard for her to visit with her father during most of the last six months of his life."

“Plaintiffs seek justice in this action through the only available means -- for the grossly harmful mistreatment and isolation of their father and brother and for the hastening of his death,” the amended complaint alleges.

From Radio Online:

Legendary radio talent Casey Kasem, who died in June, 2014 at the age of 82 from what was called Parkinson's disease, will become the subject of a "48 Hours" investigation on CBS this Saturday night, reports the New York Post. He left behind an estate valued up to $100 million after founding and hosting the internationally syndicated "American Top 40." Following his death, there's been a family feud, which now includes allegations of murder and elder abuse. Jeannie Kasem -- Kasem's second wife -- is battling Kasem's three children (Kerri, Julie and Michael) from his first marriage.

"I have never seen such hatred within a family," said "48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant during the upcoming episode. "Both sides tell credible, powerful stories, both proclaim their love for Casey and both blame the other and accuse the other of killing Casey -- and both use the word 'murder.'"

According to the Post, Jeannie claims that Kasem's three grown children conspired in 2007 to convince Kasem into signing over power of attorney, giving them control over his medical decisions. Jeannie then countersued the children for forcing Casey to return to a hospital in Gig Harbor, WA, where he eventually died.

"It was always about the money," she tells Van Sant. They, in turn, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jeannie claiming elder abuse when she moved Casey from a rehab facility in Santa Monica, CA, to a friend's home in Washington state. "Jean killed my father," Kerri Kasem tells Van Sant. "The only thing she ever wanted from my dad is money."

Van Sant, the Post reports, will also break the news on Saturday's "48 Hours" that police in Gig Harbor have opened an investigation into Casey's death, after a private eye hired by Jeannie concluded he was a homicide victim.

Kasem's body now lies rests in an unmarked grave in Oslo, Norway.
