Happy 60th Birthday to KCNC Channel 4 (then KOA TV), who signed on the air on Christmas Eve 1953.
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KCNC-TV), KOA TV was originally owned by Metropolitan Broadcasting (partly owned by famed comedian Bob Hope), along with KOA 850 AM and KOA 103.5 FM.
KOA TV immediately took the NBC affiliation away from KBTV Channel 9 (now KUSA TV), due to KOA radio's longtime affiliation with and ownership by the NBC Radio Network.
