Colorado State University has a starring role on PBS’ “NOVA” Nov. 6 (locally at 8 p.m. on RMPBS). Two research scientists are featured in the episode of “Making Stuff Safer” with David Pogue.
“Making Stuff Safer” features June Medford and John van de Lindt of CSU and two projects: Plants that sniff out danger in the air, including bombs, and earthquake retrofitting for buildings. The photo above, (Pogue with back to camera, Medford facing camera), the crew was in Medford’s Biology lab in the Anatomy and Zoology Building on the CSU campus, exploring how plants can be engineered to warn of possibly lethal contaminants in the air.
Pogue, who is leaving the New York Times to launch a tech site on Yahoo, will continue his work for PBS and for “CBS Sunday Morning.”
