O’Brian spent nine years at WPAW-FM as morning host until exiting in Audacy’s March layoffs and previously held PD duties early in his tenure. He has spent multiple stints in nearby Lexington programming Cumulus Media’s WLXX and WVLK, LM Communications WCDA, and iHeartMedia’s WMXL twice as well as programming WBTS Atlanta, WNNF Cincinnati, and WWZZ Washington DC. He is also creator and writer of Superadio’s syndicated “Retro Country USA (https://www.retrocountryusa.net)“.
In a memo shared by RAMP (https://ramp247.com/programming/obrian-circles-back-to-kentucky/), Market Manager Rusty James wrote, “With a proven track record as a multi-format programmer and on-air talent; Dale is widely respected across the industry for his leadership, creativity and results. He has expressed that returning to Central Kentucky has long been a goal of his, and we are thrilled that the timing was right for him ? and for us. O’Brian succeeds Brett ‘JJB’ Waford, who exited at the end of March as PD/afternoon host at WFKY/WVKY. He continues to track middays at Rock “103.1 The Bear (https://bearradiorocks.com)” WRON Parkersburg WV as ‘Tractor’.
