https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2020/05/fccseal2020-200x200.pngThe FCC has issued a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture to Northwest Rock N Roll Preservation Society’s 101.1 K266BM Olympia WA proposing a $20,000 fine. The FCC found that Northwest Rock N Roll Preservation Society made false certifications in a 2019 license application when it certified that ?the station is now in satisfactory operating condition and ready for regular operation? and “the facility was constructed as authorized in the underlying construction permit.” When it filed its License to Cover in 2019, they had yet to construct the facilities in its 2017 CP. K266BM filed its license to cover on December 4, 2019 stating that the translator was operating with 250 watts rebroadcasting 920 KGTK Olympia. They would later admit it did not increase its power or begin rebroadcasting KGTK until June 13, 2020.
The FCC has also rejected Northwest Rock N Roll Preservation Society’s application for review for Bicoastal Media’s CP grant for 101.3 K267CX Centralia WA. After the 2019 license to cover application for K266BM, the group continued using their the previous interference contour in its objections to K267CX’s CP.
DeletionsTed Austin’s Southwest Montana Media has surrendered 580 KANA Anaconda and 100.7 K264CZ Butte MT claiming “financial difficulties and the loss of the site authorized for KANA, as well as the expected impact of silent periods during the license period on the pending Renewal Application, have left SWMM unable to continue to operate KANA and K264CZ.” The FCC has issued a letter of inquiry in February 2022 to KANA’s license renewal application after Austin stated KANA had been silent for substantial periods since acquiring the station on October 25, 2018 due to equipment, site, and financial issues. The station had been operating under Silent STA since August 21, 2022 and its license would have expired this week on that case alone.
Midwest Communications has turned in the license of 1440 WIBU Paris IL. WIBU had been simulcasting News/Talk 1230 WIBQ (https://wibqam.com) Terre Haute IN.
