90.3 WVIK (https://www.wvik.org) Rock Island IL will convert to all News/Talk programming, while 105.7 K289BI Davenport IA will see its signal upgraded and acquire all the Classical programming. Currently WVIK airs a mix of News/Talk and Classical, while K289BI/WVIK-HD2 airs additional News/Talk programming.
General Manager Jay Pearce told the Quad City Times (https://qctimes.com/news/local/quad-cities-npr-station-switching-formats-moving-classical-to-low-wattage-station/article_c4e135bc-295d-5eed-b9fd-9d35a4ef6628.html), “We’re not going to do it until we have a frequency that covers all of the Quad-Cities. Sustainability is the bottom line here. It’s a financial thing, and we studied it long and hard.”
