From The Denver Post:

The Aurora theater shootings keep Colorado in the national spotlight as public broadcasting launches a week-long initiative on guns beginning Monday. Megan Verlee, a familiar voice from Colorado Public Radio, will be part of a major cross-platform effort by PBS on the issue of gun violence. Verlee reports on the various proposals for curbing gun violence currently championed by state lawmakers, families of victims and even gun owners, and the opposition they’re encountering.
PBS “NewsHour” launches each evening’s programming, locally at 6 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS, and the initial focus is Aurora. Among the Coloradans interviewed are Aurora Police Chief Daniel Oates; Dave Hoover, whose nephew was killed at the theater and who is now a lobbyist for new gun restrictions; Richard Taylor, who manages a shooting range less than a mile from the theater; Damien Garcia, a gun owner who has recently purchased new guns because he is worried about future restrictions, and Ron Blan, a former gang member who now works for the city of Aurora on a gang prevention task force.
A live stream (http://www.ustream.tv/pbsnewshour) will be available on Monday.
Beyond the “NewsHour,” PBS will offer a series of “After Newtown” specials to “continue the public conversation on gun laws, mental illness and school security.” The PBS series “Frontline,” “NOVA” and “Washington Week with Gwen Ifill” are part of the intensive focus, with reports on what creates a killer, the science behind the teenage brain and the politics of gun control. On Friday, “Need to Know” tackles the traumatic results of a shooting on the victim’s family, the killer, the killer’s family and others.
