From Radio Insight: Cumulus Media Classic Rock “101 The Fox” KCFX Harrisonville/Kansas City MO afternoon host Brian ‘Slacker’ Adams has passed away at the age of 59 from acute myeloid leukemia. Adams spent 33 years on the air in Kansas City and had been with KCFX since 2008 after previous stints at 102.1 KYYS and successor 99.7 KYYS. He moved to afternoons in December after being away from his former morning shift for four months due to treatment. The station released the following statement, “It is with a broken heart that we share with you that our friend Slacker has passed away due to complications from AML. His wife Jennifer and daughter Brianna were with him at home as he left this life. We know you?ll join us at 101 The Fox in expressing your heartfelt condolences to Slacker?s family. Slacker had two great passions – his family, and his time on the air in Kansas City. For over 33 years, the last 16 at 101 The Fox, Slacker loved to entertain his radio audience. He helped Veterans with Cars 4 Heroes and many other charities. He pointed out the little absurdities we all deal with, making us laugh at him and ourselves. Named Radio Legend by his peers, Slacker was a voice of, and for, Kansas City. Sadly, that voice is now silent. If you choose, Slacker asked that you pray for his family, and all who are affected by cancer. And pick up the phone and talk to that friend you haven’t gotten around to talking to, today. Slacker would like that.” KCFX will air a tribute “Slacker Special” at 6pm tonight with him talking about his favorite interviews, music, and what he loved about being on the radio in Kansas City. more

From Radio Insight: Radio One News/Talk 93.1 WIBC Indianapolis morning and midday host Tony Katz is entering daily national syndication starting Monday, April 22. “Tony Katz Today” will air live from 12-3pm Eastern via Key Networks. A three hour weekend version will also be made available. Katz originally joined WIBC in 2013 as host of a Los Angeles based late night show before taking over “Indy’s Morning News” in 2014. He then added the midday show in May 2017. Key Networks COO Dennis Green stated, ?Tony brings a successful track record to the national stage with his common-sense approach to talk radio. When you have worked construction and the restaurant business, and have been a successful entrepreneur, you have a host who can talk the talk with audiences from coast to coast!? Katz added, ?There is nothing better than when everything perfectly aligns in life. And with syndication, having the full backing of David Wood and WIBC, and Dennis Green of Key Networks guiding the ship, I have that perfect alignment. I’m looking forward to working hard, proving my value to programmers and market managers across the country and providing a show, every day, that is fun and engaging. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go have a cigar.? . more
